
City Council President Mike Khader won a hard fought election against a powerful opponent in Liam McLaughlin in 2017 and is know at times to be the lone opposing vote on Yonkers matters.
For example, on normally routine and unanimous vote on the council was to renew the contract of the auditor, Nick DeSantis. CCP Mike Khader was the only no on a new contract for CPA DeSantis.
Mike Khader also voted against an increase of fees in the building department.
Many of Khader’s no votes are without the support of his democratic colleagues, or anyone else.
Yonkers’ first Arab American City Council President, Mike Khader, never held elective office before and ran on a campaign of draining the swap and holding the line on taxes in Yonkers.
Mike Khader governs his way and says he is looking after the intrests of homeowners.
He is also an attorney practicing in the city of hills for over 10 years and he seems to think that things in Yonkers need to be shaken up.
Mike Khader also worked for the CIA before starting a career in politics and some say he is a contender to become a mayor of Yonkers in the future.
