Thomas R. Daly is a Yonkers City Court Judge and also acting Family Court Judge in the Integrated Domestic Violence part of the City Court.
Judge Daly has a true passion for history and law, pursuing these interests during his time at St. John’s University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in History in 1975. Thomas then attended St. John’s School of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctor in 1978.
Judge Daly is admitted to the New York State Bar, the Florida Bar and the US Supreme Court. Active in many local organizations, Thomas is a former president and current member of the Yonkers Lawyers Association.
Prior to his election to the bench, Thomas was volunteer counsel to the Fine Arts Orchestral Society and the Tuckahoe Housing Review Board, in addition to guardian ad litem for developmentally disabled tenants in Bronx County.
Judge Daly first worked in the Court System as a law secretary to the Chief Judge of the Bronx Civil Court. Thomas practiced law in the private sector from 1980 to 1984 with the Manhattan law firm of Finkelstein, Borah, Altschuler, et al.
Following this experience, Thomas and his wife, Carol McEwen Daly, Esq., formed the partnership of McEwen and Daly. They practiced law together in Yonkers until his appointment to the bench in 1995.
Thereafter, Judge Daly became a Court Attorney in the Yonkers City Court from 1996 until 2000 when he was elected to his current Judicial position.
In addition to serving the people of Yonkers as a City Court Judge, Thomas has been a member of various community and political organizations over the past three decades.
These include the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the American Irish Association of Westchester, the Sons of Italy, the Easy Yonkers Kiwanis Club, the Knights of Columbus. He was also an active member of his Parish Council, singing in his church choir for many years and singing with the Yonkers Male Glee Club
As a passionate student of American History, in 1991 Thomas became a member of the Brigade of the American Revolution, an organization dedicated to the recreation of the life of the common soldier of the American Revolution. He is also a supporter of Sherwood House and member of the Yonkers Historical Society.
Thomas is a passionate supporter of his wife Carol and daughter Mary, active volunteers with the Untermyer Performing Arts Council, Building Hope for the Yonkers Animal Shelter and the former Child Abuse Prevention Center of Westchester.
